20th March 2023 Julius Malema the opposition leader of South Africa called for a National shut down demanding resignation of their current President Cyril Ramaphosa over energy crisis.
On the same day in Kenya our opposition leader Raila Odinga from Azimio party had announced a public holiday for the ‘Maandamano’. His main agenda is IEBC servers to be opened for scrutiny into the August 2022 & a reduction in the cost of living.
Kenyans in different towns protested in large numbers. Police officers lobbed protesters with teargas as Kenyans pelt stones to the cops. In some parts of Kenya, The Protestors overpowered police. Videos are all over the social medial of deployed officers running for their safety.
Protesters barricaded roads putting all kinds of blocks making the motorists using the roads to access their places of work turn away. Motorists were forced to use alternative routes most being longer routes.
Many businesses were closed for the fear of looting. Students were having their midterm break and most were expected to resume back to school but parents could not release their kids amidst protest so some schools were forced to reschedule opening dates.
Oh yes I like chaos as long as am not involved but what did the Windows of the newly refurbished Sarova Imperial Hotel do to the Kisumu protestors? Can’t we have peaceful demonstrations like our fellow South Africans? A man was shot at Toi Market. A 3rd year at Maseno student was shot in the neck, pronounced dead later and many were arrested. What about the UDA office in Kisumu? KENYANS SI WAJINGA BWANA. (Kenyans are not fools)
Raila Odinga ended up declaring protests every Monday, does that mean we just had a rehearsal?
Will the demostrations stop in case the price of Unga reduces by say for example ksh50?
